Living Your New Life in Christ

Have you ever wondered: “Why do I still struggle with some of the same sins if I am a redeemed child of God?” or “How can I defeat the ugly pattern of thoughts and actions that remain in my life?” If so, you are not alone.
In this Sunday’s preaching passage, Colossians 3:5-17, God continues to show us how to live the life that is ours in Christ. This involves “putting to death” the remnants of our old sinful nature, which, although crucified, still remains deceptively active- its passions “wage war” against our souls (1 Peter 2:11). It also involves a spiritual change of clothes. We are commanded to “take off” that which belongs to our old life, and to “put on” the characteristics of the new.
All of these commands are grounded in our secure identity in Jesus, and what he has already done for us. Once again we will be reminded of how we need to rely on Jesus to overcome sin and live a life worthy of Him.
So buckle up and get ready for Sunday’s message. Read Col. 3:5-17 today. And be prepared to be challenged, encouraged, rebuked, and comforted by God’s living and active Word.
In Christ we stand,
Pastor Eric
